Hasay takes first at PAC-10 championshipPublished by
SEATTLE — Jordan Hasay is now a PAC-10 champion. The University of Oregon sophomore won the women’s race at the PAC-10 Cross Country Championships on a rainy Saturday. Hasay covered the 6,000 meter course at the Jefferson Park Golf Course in 19:44.5. Stanford sophomore Kathy Kroeger ran second in 19:49.43. Stanford won the team championship with 62 points. Arizona was second with 65. Oregon and Washington tied for third with 68 points. Hasay, an Arroyo Grande native who was a decorated prep star when she was at Mission Prep, won her first PAC-10 championship Saturday. “I’m really pleased,” she told the University of Oregon’s Website. “I would have been happier with the team win, because that’s what cross country is all about. But I’m just honored that I could bring the individual championship back to Oregon.” Nicole Blood won the 2009 PAC-10 women’s individual cross country title when she was an Oregon senior. “It’s cool that Nicole won because I looked up to her a lot,” said Hasay. Hasay won Saturday with an impressive kick. “That last stretch, I was just trying to bring it home for Oregon,” she told the Ducks’ Website. Read the full article at: www.santamariatimes.com
